Examples:

My mom tried to sugarcoat her upcoming surgery by describing it as “a simple procedure.” 

The teenager decided to sugarcoat the damage he did to the family car by explaining it was just “a small dent."  


Sugarcoat is to make something bad sound more appealing than it really is.
